Welcome!
Come on in, friend! Pull up a chair, grab a cuppa, and let's chat! I'd love to share what God's been putting on my heart about the topics of family, femininity, and faith, and you do the same. If you want to go deeper, join my Facebook group for "This Side of Heaven", and be sure to subscribe to keep up with every new post (no spam, I promise!). I look forward to getting to know you and sharing the journey "this side of Heaven!"
If you follow any homeschooling bloggers at all, you may have been hearing about the 2018 Homeschool Moms Conference. It is a completely online homeschooling conference organized by Heather Bowen, of Life of a Homeschool Mom blog. As one of the 60+ speakers (I have three sessions!!), I have been so excited to be a part of it, and since I've got the insider perspective, I wanted to share a few things with you that you may not know. It's not just for moms. Some of the presenters are dads, and we all know how much dads contribute to our homeschools. These sessions are for them, too! It's not just for homeschoolers. Let's say you don't homeschool at all. There are many, many sessions about parenting, special needs, or general teaching methodology that is applicable to ANY parent and ANY educator. There is also an entirely separate Work-At-Home/Blogging track! It's also for anyone who wants to work from home The work-at-home/blogging track is NOT just about blogging. It covers a great many ideas of ways to earn money from home, and talks about how to organize your day, working with a multi-level marketing company, speaking, work/life balance, etc. These are some of the sessions I am most excited about! You get LIFETIME access. The conference "runs" from June 4-10, which is when the videos will be released (several each day), but you will have LIFETIME access to whichever track(s) you choose. So if you are just not available the week of June 4-10, no problem. Just watch the videos when YOU have time! It's amazingly affordable. It is especially affordable this week! Early bird pricing goes from May 28 through June 3, when it is $15 per track or $25 for both. (That is something like $0.17 per session!) Beginning June 4, the price will go up a little. (After June 10, you won't be able to purchase access at all.) Plus, you get a digital "swag bag" with goodies, freebies, and prizes worth $1000. For everyone who attends! It is a wealth of experience! The combined homeschool experience of the presenters in the two tracks is 572 YEARS. The presenters in the Work-at-home/Blogging track have dozens of combined years of experience building a business from home. Most of the presenters are presenting from a Christian worldview, but you do not have to be a Christian to benefit from them. It's been bathed in prayer. While it is not being "marketed" as a Christian homeschool conference, and I cannot speak to the theology of everyone involved, this is a group primarily made up of followers of Jesus Christ. I am privileged to know many of the presenters personally, and am getting to know many others. I am so very impressed with the professionalism and the care these men and women have for their families and for their readers, but I am even more impressed, for those I have gotten to know, with the depth of their spiritual walks. You do not have to be a Christian to benefit from the teaching in this conference, but if your walk with Jesus is a big part of your life, I believe you will find yourself encouraged by what you receive. As a speaker, I am also an affiliate. My links are below and I would love for you to use them to learn more about this great event! Comment below with ANY questions!

This Mother’s Day, things feel complicated. I am rejoicing in the two children who call me Mama. I am celebrating my own mom and the many lessons she has taught me. I am remembering the five little ones who I will see in Heaven. I am very much missing my mother-in-law, who went to be with the Lord just over three months ago. And I am empathizing with friends and family who are also remembering and missing children or mothers today. I know I post a lot about Mother’s Day - sorry, not sorry. 😊 It’s not that I hate it. But like a lot of life, it’s complicated and messy. It’s not a Hallmark movie with a neat ending that fades into the credits.
I’m okay with that, ultimately, but it’s not always comfortable, especially when you are trying to explain it to someone whose life seems to have been relatively uncomplicated (although I am learning more and more that everyone's life is messy, just in different ways). Today, I’m in rejoicing and celebrating and remembering and missing and empathizing, all at the same time. And while I do that, I'm worshiping the One who gives meaning to motherhood, who sits with me in this mess and then carries me through it. Because that is this beautiful, complicated, messy life this side of Heaven. |
