It's Tuesday, so I'm thinking about teaching. I've been a teacher for 15 years, and the best part is definitely those "aha" moments, when student finally "gets" what I'm trying to teach. Those moments when I know why I became a teacher because, suddenly, I really have made a difference in the life of a child. I saw the same light in my daughter's eyes the other day when she started to realize that letters have names, and that strings of letters spell the names of the people in her family. She hasn't connected all the dots yet, but she is on the verge, and when she does, a whole new world will open up to her.
I wonder if God gets the same joy from seeing us get it, finally understanding a spiritual truth that He's been persistently trying to get us to understand, or finally trusting Him with something that we used to hold on to for dear life. Knowing that when we finally connect all the dots, a whole new world will open up to us.
No wonder they called Jesus "Teacher".
