Embracing our femininity
These posts are all about what it means to be women of God. Our world seems very confused about femininity. On the one hand, we are told that there is no essential difference between men and women; one the other hand, those differences are often augmented in ways that demean God's beautiful creation.
Femininity involves so many things: how we put ourselves together, how we act outwardly, and how we act inwardly. 1 Peter 3:3-6 says, "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands, like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear."
It is not that outward adornment does not matter at all, but that the inner self matter far more. These posts, then, touch on topics that celebrate and embrace our outward femininity - modesty, clothes, hair, and other kinds of "outward adornment" - but also celebrate and embrace our inner self - especially qualities of gentleness, submission, strength, perseverance, and godly leadership.
It is my hope that these posts will encourage you to embrace your femininity in a way consistent with God's purpose for you, to the praise of His glory!
